Have started sending a few feelers out for 2019 packages. We will be looking at an arrival for Thursday, May 30-June 4, 2019. Rates and packages, etc. won't be available for awhile yet. I am looking at a similar package to this year. Probably even at Legends again.
With Legends mentioned, Moorland, as you remember was one of many MB courses that lost greens due to the bad winter. Several courses have temporarily closed to replace greens. Our friend "Chewy" forwarded this article on the repair work being done.

Day 4 - Monday at Parkland
Monday, our final day of golf, has us on site at the Legends Parkland Course. Today we have breakfast, lunch and 2 beers included.
Parkland was the third course built at the Legend's complex. In a word, it is a Parkland-style course. Parkland utilizes the natural terrain with contoured, tree-lined fairways, vast natural areas, deep-faced bunkers and massive, multi-level greens.
The Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday offers this review of the Legends - Parkland.

Day 3 - Moorland plus optional replay at Heathland
Moorland was recently named the 37th toughest course in America. Of course that is from the back tees. We will play a more comfortable, but no less challenging course for our Sunday round in Myrtle.
The Moorland Course at Legends Resort is one of Myrtle Beach’s most talked about designs. The course is renowned for the size of its fairways and greens, but it’s the short, par 4 16th, known as Hell’s Half Acre, the people never forget.
Breakfast, lunch and 2 beers are included. Tee time is 8:00, so we'll need to meet at the clubhouse for breakfast.
Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday recently posted Great Scenery and Challenge Define Moorland.
For those interested, we also have a free replay of Heathland in the afternoon after our free lunch.
Rules question from member. Here is the answer. This lie is deemed unplayable unless Terry can convince his group that he has this shot.

Oyster Bay - Day 2
The countdown clock is still ticking and we are getting close my friends.
Oyster Bay will be our second course of the weekend and is consistently listed as one of the top layouts at the beach since opening in 1983 as the "Best New Resort Course" in the country by Golf Digest. Water views, gators, other wildlife and some of the toughest greens on the strand should make this a memorable round.
Again, breakfast, lunch and two beers are included.
Check out this article on Oyster Bay.
Make sure to check out this video tour. And don't forget this show from the former Seaside Golf presents Myrtle Beach.
This course will be a bit of a drive for us, but hopefully will be well worth the trip.

Day 1 - Heathland
Day 1 in 2018 will be at home base. Heathland was the first of the on-site Legend's courses and designed by Tom Doak. We will gather in the clubhouse for lunch around noon. Lunch and beer is included in the package.
Heathland is probably the most open of the courses we will play, so it should make us feel better about our games. When it opened, the Heathland course was named one of the Top 10 New Resort Courses in the World.
Check this review of Heathland - Legends. Enjoy the read and think warm weather.
For a look at the Heathland course, see the link below.

Meet New Guy 2 - Kris Buhrdorf
Joining the MB tour in 2018 will be Kris Buhrdorf. It is easy to see in looking at his last name
that he is related to original member Kevin Buhrdorf. Kris is the son of Kevin thus making them the
3rd Father/Son participants over the years.
Kris grew up in Christiansburg VA and is a
2017 graduate of Virginia Tech. He
current works at Virginia Tech as a programmer and lives in Blacksburg. It is hard to consider him as new considering
he has been tailgating at home and away Hokie games with many of the MB
participants his entire life.
His
favorite hobbies include tailgating, watching sports, drinking beer, video
games, and playing golf. He is a diehard
Cleveland Cavs, Jets and Red Sox fan, and spends every Fall Saturday tailgating
with family and friends. If it sounds like Kris is an exact clone of
Kevin you’re not far off. Only way to tell them apart is that Kris
prefers pounding down Leinenkugel Grapefruit Shandys instead of Shiner Bocks. A couple things of note. if you’re his designated drinking buddy, it’s
best to remind him to put some food in his system during his 12-hour pre-game
imbibing regimen.
The only red flag with this dude is his unnatural obsession
with all things Kanye West and Lebron. On the plus side, his inclusion on
MB tour lowers the average age of participants to about 45. Easiest way
to rattle him and get him off his game at MB is to utter two little words:
“Taylor Swift”. He hates her like his
Dad hates Boise State. In the final analysis, if you like Kevin, you’re
gonna love this guy!

2018 - New Guy 1 - Meet DJ Harris
David
“DJ” Harris will be joining the group for the 2018 Myrtle Beach trip. DJ resides in Charlottesville, VA with his
wife of 14 years. DJ grew up in Stuarts
Draft, VA and was a police officer for the City of Charlottesville for
approximately 27 years until his retirement in April 2017. DJ is also a graduate of Liberty
University.
DJ
held many positions as a police officer and in John Healey’s experienced
opinion of law enforcement, having worked with many police officers/detectives
from many jurisdictions around the Commonwealth and the country, DJ is one of
the best. One of the most dedicated and
well-rounded, DJ was a patrolman, detective, SWAT Team member, motorcycle/traffic
unit (at that time, he looked like Charlie Baileygates from the movie Me,
Myself, and Irene! Funny stuff),
narcotics detective, ATF Task Force Officer, Patrol and Investigations Divisions’
Sergeant and later Patrol and Investigations Divisions’ Lieutenant. He retired as the Investigations Division
Lieutenant.
DJ and John have been good friends for many years. They often play golf together and DJ is a good player and loves the game but, more importantly, a lot of fun to play golf with. DJ organizes a Myrtle Beach golf trip in March that John has participated in for the past five years. Golf with DJ is always a great time often including cold beverages. DJ now has a second lady in his life he loves dearly: a 1-year old granddaughter! Fortunately, DJ’s son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter live across the street from him and his wife so he gets to see her often.
Please help me in welcoming DJ to the group. He is very excited and looking forward to the trip this year. Contributed by fourth-year participant John Healey.

2018 PACKAGE IS SET
| Legends Clubhouse and Parkland #18 green. |
OK gentlemen. Our 2018 package is set. We do have two "newbies" this year, and will provide info. on them in the near future.
This year, we will return to playing a Legends package and staying at Legends Resort. We will play the three courses at the Legends and sister course, Oyster Bay on day two. Saturday will be our only round off site. Oyster Bay is about 45 minutes north. Supposedly all three on site courses are being used on Saturday for tournaments.
This year's package includes BREAKFAST, LUNCH and 2 BEERS each day at the clubhouse of the course for that day.
If you have only paid your $100 deposit, the remaining $410 is due to me by mid-April. Be reminded that this includes not only the golf package, but also your $10 per round bet for each day. All "competition" rounds are captain's choice.
We are paying for the 4 night/four round package (but we get a free night and a free round, making it a 5/5). We can arrive starting the afternoon of Thursday, May 31 with a departure departure as late as Tuesday morning. This package gives folks the opportunity to arrive either Thursday of Friday, and depart Monday or Tuesday, your choice without having to switch condos around based on arrival/departure choice of others in the condo.
All condos are two bedroom/two bath units.
Here is the lineup and tee times:
6/1/18 - Legends Heathland @ 1:32
6/2/18 - Oyster Bay @ 8:28
6/3/18 - Legends Moorland @ 8:04
6/3/18 - Legends Heathland @ 1:40 ------ This is optional/freebie and is not included in bets.
6/4/18 - Legends Parkland * @ 8:04
Check your e-mail for more info.
