2017 Rules and other information

OK, lots of info. in this update.

Rule Changes -
We WILL continue to play all rounds as captain's choice. One new addition to the captain's choice.    This year each player will get one RED TEE shot per day.

We will continue with the Denston/Wilson Modified Scoring Method to determine the overall winner.  Positive points Par +1, Birdie +3, Eagle +5...... Bogey-2, Double or worse -3.

Once again, as is done in many captain's choice tourneys, this year we will require each team to use at least two (2) tee shots from each member of the team, regardless of whether it is a 4- or 3-man team.  This will be tee shots on any hole, regardless of whether it is a par 3, 4, or 5. Red tee shots can count in required tee shots during the round.

In the event that there are only three team members, the three players will alternate taking the 4th shot.

Basic Information -

This year we will be staying at WINDSOR GREENS Condos at Man O War golf course in Carolina Forest.

Be reminded that with our golf package, lunch is included on site Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We also get a couple of free beers at the clubhouse those days as well. Breakfast Fri, Sat, and Sunday is available at IHOP prior to the round.  IHOP is on 501, one light south, at the entrance to Legends.  We also get a voucher for a free steak dinner at Logan's Roadhouse.

The way this works, when I check in on Thursday afternoon, all vouchers and condo keys will be given to me to distribute.

No meal or beer is included at Wold Tour.

On Friday we need to meet at the Man O War clubhouse.  I will check in at the pro shop to get everything squared away.  Tee time is 1:00 so plan to arrive at noon.

For those coming down on Friday, you/we can check in at condos after the first round.

After each round, I will distribute the prize money for the day. The winning team receives $160 each day.  In the event of a tie, like day one in 2012, we will  declare a definitive winner based on a tie-breaker (going with the lowest score on the #1 handicap hole and if still tied, moving to #2 handicap, the #3 until a winner is determined).  If there is a tie and we cannot complete the round due to weather, the money will be split (as happened a few years ago at Heathland).

After conversation with a few people, we will go with this rooming list.

1 - T Wilson, K. Buhrdorf, S. Miller, K Mathers
2 - R Haswell, C Higgins, D Denston, T. Haswell
3 - D Lane, CK Allen, B. Swarthout, M. Tadych
4 - D. Moore, M Thompson, D Clemson, J. Healy

Rules for the course -

We do have to get to courses early.  While we have meals before each round we still need to be ready to go early.  It is suggested that we arrive ready, no later than 20 minutes before the first tee time.  It does take time to unload cars, get balls, tees, etc. together, load up carts and get out to the tees, etc.  What you do with the extra few minutes (practice putting, go to the range, go to the john, check out the pro shop or try to get a preview of the cart girls) is up to you.  The courses the first two days, Man O War and Wizard, are on location (just different clubhouses).  I will bring directions in case they are needed for Sunday (Witch) and Monday (World Tour).  Of course I'm sure everyone has GPS.

No jeans allowed.

Collared shirts are required.  No one has trouble with mock turtles, just make sure there are no t-shirts.

Condos do have washers/dryers, so don't hesitate to pack light and do laundry there.

Unlike most of Myrtle Beach courses, the courses this year DO ALLOW COOLERS.

Remember to bring any medication you need.  That includes aspirin, Pepto or anything else for your stomach or head.

World Tour - Day 4

Monday finds us taking a tour around replicas of some of the most famous holes in golf.  This will be our final round, which by the way does not include breakfast of lunch.

After about four tries, we are finally able to get in a round at World Tour.  Previous rounds have been unavailable due to tournaments on site (3 times) or maintenance (1).

World Tour Golf Links in Myrtle Beach offers golfers the chance to play replicas of the greatest holes and courses from around the world all on one beautiful layout.

Featuring 18 holes that are inspired by such golf meccas as Augusta National, Pine Valley and St. Andrews, World Tour brings the greatest holes in golf history to one special place to create a memorable golf experience without the need for a passport.

Each turn takes players to a special place - "Amen Corner" where the Masters has been won and lost on Sundays, the finishing hole at Inverness, which Jack Nicklaus called "the hardest hole I have ever played!" Golfers can even cross the stone bridge where Arnold Palmer bid the golf world farewell on No. 18 in the 1995 British Open.
